South Africa visa photos: start with your handling mission

The photo request belongs to your visa application and the office receiving it. This guide uses a published visitor-visa checklist as a concrete example, then shows what to confirm for your own appointment.

A specific official example: Cotonou

The South African Embassy in Cotonou’s visitor-visa checklist asks for two recently taken, identical passport photographs with a white background, measuring 35 mm wide by 45 mm high. This is a requirement published by that mission for its visitor-visa checklist, not proof that every application channel uses an identical upload format.

Confirm the checklist for your application

Find the office handling your case and use its current document checklist. Confirm the visa category, number of prints and whether a digital image is requested. If an appointment provider supplies additional instructions, compare them with the mission’s instructions before ordering photographs.

A print size does not establish a portal’s pixel dimensions, accepted file type or upload limit. Record those separately when your application asks for a digital file. Do not convert millimetres into an assumed universal upload requirement.

What PixPassVisa currently offers

We do not currently offer a separate South Africa visa preset. This page therefore provides a preparation checklist instead of selecting a passport preset or a different country on your behalf. Do not purchase a generic output expecting a verified South Africa visa file.

Our visa directory identifies other document options. If your exact preset is unavailable, a photographer working from the mission’s written checklist is a practical next step.

Check the finished photographs

Keep an unedited original and avoid filters that change your appearance. For prints, compare the two copies, inspect sharpness and measure the output after printing. For a digital request, open the final exported file and verify its dimensions and size against the actual upload field.

This guide concerns the photo task only. It does not determine visa eligibility or replace the receiving office’s decision.
